IFIRE received the following from FAIR:

Media and Bush/ Kennedy Using Lull in Debate to Attempt to Fool the American Public into Believing They are Winning

Polling Scheme is Latest in Dirty Tricks Campaign

Yesterday, the Wall Street Journal published poll results which, according to the Wall Street Journal, show the American people favoring Bush's amnesty plan (50%) over the House enforcement-only bill (33%). Poll results such as these (usually push polling designed to elicit a certain result) are used by the media to tout support for the Senate's amnesty proposal in hopes of discouraging the American people from demanding enforcement-only legislation.

We must make sure no one believes this misleading data. It is widely known that the majority of American's are in favor of enforcing our immigration laws to end illegal immigration. It is also widely known that the majority of American's do not support rewarding people who have broken our laws. We cannot allow polls like these to blur the clear line between special interest and public interest and skew the general sentiments of the majority of Americans.

Do not let the media fool you and do not let the media fool the House Leadership!

House Leadership is currently debating within its ranks what its next step on immigration reform will be. Below we have listed four key members of the House of Representatives. Please call these members' district offices today and Monday. Tell them that despite how the Bush Administration, Ted Kennedy and the mass media are distorting public opinion, you are calling to let them know that the American People want enforcement ONLY and enforcement NOW!

*Call these Members Friday, June 16 and Monday, June 19 and inform them that the American people want the House passed bill and you want enforcement NOW!
Don't Compromise Away our Future!

Action Alert

Urgently needed NOW! Your voice for positive, comprehensive immigration reform
Join the National Call-In Day Monday, June 19

Your help is urgently needed. Comprehensive Immigration Reform opponents are deluging the House and Senate with calls in favor of HR 4437, an enforcement only bill that seeks to criminalize undocumented immigrants and anyone who assists them. The Senate has passed a bill, S 2611, that begins to humanely address the needs of the 12 million undocumented persons, who are connected to over 50 million American families. The two bills will soon be "conferenced" and brought together into one bill for approval by both the House and the Senate.
Millions of Americans have filled the streets of this country to show their support for just, fair, and humane immigration reform with a path to legalization. However, the members of Congress pay great attention to the calls and letters that come into their offices. Your voice in favor of positive comprehensive immigration reform is needed now and in the weeks to come.

Action Needed:
Be a part of the national call in day! Calls to Congress members are urgently needed for comprehensive immigration reform. Please call Capitol operator at 202 224-3121 on Monday, June 19, and ask for your Congressperson.

Urge them to pass comprehensive immigration reform that will:

Provide an opportunity for all undocumented immigrants, who are contributing to this country through their work, to meet reasonable criteria and, over time, pursue a path to legalization and citizenship. (We support earned legalization not amnesty);
Reform our family-based immigration system to significantly reduce waiting times for separated families who currently wait many years to be reunited;
Create legal avenues for migrant workers and their families to enter the U.S. and work in a safe, legal and orderly manner with their rights fully protected;
Develop policies that are consistent with humanitarian values; treat all individuals with respect; allow the authorities to identify and prevent terrorists and dangerous criminals from entering the country, and bolster our national security through effective enforcement, not through expanded fencing and militarization of the border;
Address the role employers have played in creating the immigration crisis;
Protect individuals and organizations who act as Good Samaritans without regard to persons’ immigration status; and
Safeguard asylum seekers and assure an opportunity to prove they deserve asylum.

You can call any of these men (any US Senator or Representative) at this TOLL FREE NUMBER
1-888-355-3588.

This is just one of the toll free numbers for the main Capitol Hill Switchboard in Washington, D.C.

When the operator answers, just ask for the name of the Senator or Rep. you'd like to speak to.

I have NEVER actually spoken to a Senator or Representative and would be totally shocked if they ever picked up the phone! You will be connected with one of their staffers who will listen to you and take down your comments to pass along to the legislator.

They have caller ID on their phones so they can tell if you're calling from their state or not. If you are one of their constituents, they are usually extremely polite.
