Governor Daniels refuses to take a position on the illegal immigration legislation that is going to conference committee. Why? He has made his position on property tax legislation abundantly clear and has taken a leading role. Illegal immigration is one of the top two issues concerning Hoosiers and he's taking a "wait and see" attitude towards this legislation? Is he more concerned about money than the rule of law? Answer that question and email Governor Daniels at mdaniels@gov.in.gov after you read this article:

Fruitful trade mission to Mexico
Wednesday, February 27, 2008 12:17 AM CST

By Ruth de La Garza

Indiana's economic development mission to Mexico led by Lt. Governor Becky Skillman, a delegation of 26-members of top-level Indiana food and agribusiness leaders and Indiana Agriculture Director Andy Miller was a great success.

Juan Watson Senior Advisor for Latino & Immigrant Affairs for Governor Daniels and member of the planning committee traveled with the delegation to the town of Pachuca, Hidalgo n Watson's home town, where they toured Cuenca Dairy Farm, the largest dairy farm in Latin America.

Officials from Purdue University, Ivy Tech - Lafayette, Ball State University, and Indiana University signed an agreement for an exchange program with the Autonomous University of Hidalgo (UAEH) to pursue educational and relationship opportunities. For the past nine years medical and dental students have participated in a student exchange program. "This will better the lives of a lot of people" said Watson.

Watson said the trip has helped not only the business community in both countries, but also their views about Latinos who live in the USA. "This good will trip was important. I think this is going to help the Latinos in many ways because Mexico is the entrance to Latin America.

The 'good will delegation' departed Indiana on February 4th and returned on the 8th with a new perspective of Mexico, its educational, cultural and business exchanges both countries will share. The group spent a day in Mexico City with the U.S. Ambassador to Mexico Antonio O. Garza, Jr. and officials from Mexico's Department of Agriculture.

It's no wonder Mexican immigrants come to this country to pursue a better life, 60,000 citizens of Mexico earn less than $1 per day commented Watson. "The Mexican Trade Agreement is the second trade partner for Indiana after Canada, and we're definitely excited to partner with our neighboring country," added Watson.

I thought you might tell me. Can states enter in to their own trade agreements or does this usurp the federal role? Is it constitutional?

No states cannot enter into trade agreements. I see your point.

Sorry a little on the defensive now that ya'll are trying to take my rights away.
