There is a hostage situation developing in D.C.!
Senator Harry Reid has announced his intention to hold our brave military men and women hostage to the DREAM Act Amnesty! He is adding this nightmare to the Defense Authorization Bill which is scheduled for a vote next week! We need ALL of you to jam the Congressional Switchboard 1-866-220-0044
to stop this!

The very name of this Act is a lie! DREAM stands for Development Relief & Education of Alien MINORS but it covers illegals up to age 35! These *children* immediately receive legal status, permission to work and can help their illegal relatives gain status. They go to the front of the line and receive tuition breaks that American students don't.

This is no small amnesty for a few deserving high school honor students! To understand how HUGE and wide-ranging this Amnesty is, you must read this summary of the legislation. Link: http://www.numbersusa.com/content/files ... ct_111.pdf

Dear Senator:

Sen. Harry Reid has said he will attach the DREAM Act as an amendment to the Defense Authorization Bill. I hope you will vigorously oppose the inclusion of this amendment and vote against the defense bill unless it is removed.

It is despicable to use our brave military men and women as pawns. They are fighting for our freedom while the Senate plans to undermine them by rewarding lawbreakers with amnesty. The DREAM Act is unfair to legal immigrants, American workers and students. It is downright criminal to even consider passing the DREAM Act when we have as many as 22 million unemployed Americans.

Your staffers have informed me that you never read the bills before passing them. Let me suggest you read this excellent summary of what the DREAM Act would do and then vote against it.

KEY TALKING POINTS from Roy Beck at Numbers USA
• No. 1: The rhetoric for DREAM is false and misleading. This amnesty is NOT limited to high school valedictorians and other high-achieving college students who were brought to the U.S. illegally when they were toddlers.

The amnesty includes illegal aliens up to age 35!

And their arrival can be as late as age 15!

The bill is a giant fraud loophole. People can claim the amnesty without providing proof of meeting criteria.

Even the supporters of the DREAM amnesty admit that around 2.1 million people could qualify.
• No. 2: DREAM does nothing to stop the behavior that put teenagers into their situation. It leaves the jobs magnet in place.

This amnesty has no enforcement measures at all. It allows employers to continue to hire illegal aliens, enticing millions more parents to bring their children here illegally and stay long enough for them to become high school students and demand another amnesty in a few years.
• No. 3: DREAM leaves intact the chain migration system that will allow these 2.1 million illegal aliens to eventually send for millions more relatives.

Rather quickly, the amnestied illegal aliens would be able to get green cards for their parents. And millions of additional relatives would be able to start planning their applications and getting in line. This starts with adult siblings and moves on to aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.

A large percentage of the illegal aliens in the U.S. today are extended family members of the illegal aliens who got amnesty in 1986 and also those in the six more-limited amnesties in the 1990s.
